The Cosmopolitan Paris

Visit France and travel around the world without leaving Paris! (The tour is narrated in French)

Visit places and neighborhoods marked by the cultures of adopted Parisians who have transformed the capital since the beginning of the 19th century: Provincials, Europeans, Caribbean, Africans, Asians…

Visit (9 am – 5 pm)

• Discover the districts which welcomed the provincials in the 19th century: the Montparnasse des Bretons, the district Bastille des Auvergnats, Rochechouart des Picards…

• Visit the districts where European immigrants have long concentrated: the Abbesses of the “Russians whites ”, the Montmartre of the Armenians, La Villette of the Italians, the Stalingrad district where the Portuguese arrived…

• Immerse yourself in the areas of Paris where immigration from Asia and Africa is visible today: the Indian district of La Chapelle, the Maghreb Barbès, the Red Castles of Africans, the Chinese district and Vietnamese from the 13th arrondissement…

• Admire the religious buildings of these immigrant communities as well as architectural elements influenced through their civilizations: Saint Serge Orthodox church, Paris mosque, Hindu temple…

• Understand why these populations have migrated to Paris since the 19th century. Learn more about their life in the capital (housing, work, religion, leisure …), the way in which they were perceived in Paris and ended up integrating into it, their contributions to culture, politics and the Parisian economy…
